When did you start volunteering at the Itasca Y? Over 10+ years ago

Why did you decided to volunteer? I started with the Fall auction committee and then started volunteering as a group class instructor after a lot of encouragement from my peers. I have been doing group classes since I started with my dad in Royal Slacks 6:00am class when I was in high school.

What drives you to continue to volunteer? I love the energy that you get from working out with others and after being gone from Grand Rapids for 10 years it was my savior when my husband was gone and I could re- connect with old friends and make many new ones.

What do you love most about the Y? The Y is such a positive environment for exercise and becoming part of a big family, like community. Also, all the programming like daycare swim, swim lessons and WeeCare that allow young mothers/fathers to exercise and get healthy while their kids are learning skills or socializing!

Interests/hobbies I enjoy making jewelry, knitting, making purses, camping, and above all watching my children at the activities they participate in.

Lisa is a compliment to our Y Group Fitness team. Her dedication and passion to share the love of fitness is contagious in her classes. The Y is thankful for Lisa’s volunteer service all these years! ~Kris Bolin
